Washing: Jacquard fabrics are made of delicate protein fibers. They should not be rubbed against rough surfaces or machine washed. Soak the garment in cold water for 5-10 minutes, then gently rub with a special silk detergent, low-foaming laundry powder, or neutral soap. (For small items like silk scarves, a good quality shampoo can also be used.) For colored silk garments, rinse repeatedly in clean water.
Drying: After washing, silk garments should not be exposed to direct sunlight or tumble dried. They should generally be air-dried in a cool, well-ventilated place. Ultraviolet rays from the sun can easily cause silk fabrics to yellow, fade, and age. Therefore, after washing, silk garments should not be wrung out. Gently shake them out, lay them flat inside out, and let them dry until they are about 70% dry before ironing or smoothing them out.
Ironing: Silk garments have slightly less wrinkle resistance than synthetic fibers, hence the saying "if it doesn't wrinkle, it's not real silk." If garments wrinkle after washing, ironing is necessary to restore their crispness, flow, and beauty. When ironing, let the garment dry until it is about 70% dry, then evenly mist it with water. Wait 3-5 minutes before ironing. The ironing temperature should be controlled below 150°C. The iron should not touch silk directly to avoid creating a sheen.
Storage: For thin underwear, shirts, trousers, skirts, and pajamas, wash them thoroughly and iron them dry before storing. For autumn and winter clothing, coats, Hanfu, and cheongsams that are difficult to wash, dry clean them and iron them flat to prevent mold and moth infestation. Ironing also helps to kill bacteria and insects. At the same time, keep the boxes and cabinets used for storing clothes clean and as airtight as possible to prevent dust contamination.
